It had been a while since we visited the Claim Jumper. It's been a favorite of our out-of-town guests and that's what took us back. It was a fantastic dining experience at a very reasonable price. The Claim Jumper has a long history in our area, going back to 1973 when it opened in Park City. Since then the restaurant expanded to a Provo Canyon location (since closed), Heber City and St. George. Sadly, the Park City location closed some years ago. The menu is exactly the same, centered around beef with the baseball steak still the favorite ($27). I opted for the 12 oz prime rib ($21.95) which was delicious and seemingly a lot more than 12 oz. Around the table we had sirloin, Utah trout and another prime - all perfectly prepared. Comparable steaks in Park City would be quite a bit more. This is well worth the trip to Heber. Atmosphere and service were also great. We were seated immediately, quick drink orders, with salad and meals coming out quickly. Great experience and sorry it took guests to drag us back there.

Awesome ribeye and the salad with their homemade dressing was delicious. Western motif for decor. Enjoyed the whole experience

Once upon a time I loved this place. I loved the baseball steak and the all-you-can-eat salad, and the marinated mushrooms. It was located then, beautifully, in the middle of Provo Canyon, which has now had a large road cut through it and it knocked places like Claimjumper out. The Heber location did things mostly similarly, but didn't quite have the same feel. A weak three stars.

Delicious prime rib, fun rustic atmosphere. We loved nearly everything about our dinner-- garlic mushroom appetizer, tossed salad, steak and rice / prime rib and baked potato. New York style cheesecake and scrumptious chocolate torte (read four layer chocolate cake filled with fudgey ganache frosting and drizzled with caramel sauce ). Service was inconsistent- wait staff was friendly but seemed to have tables in different parts of the restaurant making it difficult to keep our beverages filled.

We drove all around both Heber and midway looking for a decent steak place. And we found it! The menus were actual liquor bottles which were kind of cool. Our waitress suggested the prime rib which we both ordered. I had mine grilled because I don't like it rare. It was perfect, tender and tasty. My husband ordered his rare and said it was delicious. The meal came with a house salad, which was just ok. Nothing special. We Aldo ordered the potato skins as an appetizer. They were delicious! They were not your usual halved potato but rather thick potato rounds covered with cheese, bacon and dour cream. We would definitely order those again!

This place was A-OK. The food was decent and service was excellent. The waitress split our bill for us which was nice. One person in our group thought the burger should have had lettuce and tomato and that along with the fact he ordered it medium and it came well-done sort of ticked him off. My burger was over-done as well but I liked it anyway with the cheese, cooked mushrooms and onion they served it with. Other than that, everyone was satisfied but certainly not wowed. Their menus are on wine bottles which is unique and sort of cool. And, the interior has a rustic look which kids will like. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn you can walk here in 30 seconds.

This local spot is not the claim jumper you're thinking of. It certainly has the rancher kind of feel, but its sooooo different from the all u can eat salad bar and gigantic portions. The limited menu is indicated on the label of a wine bottle. Although the food isn't bad, the menu is extremely limited. This go round, I ordered the pork. The meat was prepared in a light breading, with a mushroom gravy, which I had on the side. The flavor for the pork was fantastic and extremely juicy! It came with a side of fries that were fresh cut and just thick enough. For beverages, we brought in 2 bottles of wine and to our surprise, we didn't get charged a corkage fee. for desert i ordered a sundae. Nothing remarkable about the sunday, prepared with chocolate syrup and no nuts. It fulfilled my need for sugar, but meh.

Actually didn't stay to eat. Hostess mediocre, 45 minute wait with many tables empty on a Saturday night at 7:30. They had an empty bar but we could not sit there because there were people ahead of us???? Too odd. Went to the Snake Creek Grill - delightful choice on our part.

They were great! I had the CJ burger that included mushrooms that make the flavor delicious! The starter salad and bread was great as well. For only having 2 waitresses available the service was fenominal. If your hungry and just passing through, I'd definitely recommend this place.

Not even one star. Zero for: Zero service Zero food Surley waitresses Waited over 20 minutes Not even a glass of water Clueless hostess wished us a good night and hoped we enjoyed our meal when we left. It was not a busy night. Two other tables only. They gave us a great gift We drove over to park city found the Blind Dog which was Outstanding!!!!

Good food, good service. The salmon was excellent, as was the cheesecake. Pretty neat atmosphere and the best staff.

The food was incredibly bland. The meat was very boring- hardly seasoned at all- and they didn't even have A1 steak sauce! (Only had Heinz 57, which I do not like...). The food is very overpriced. Service was slow and waitress was cranky- despite the restaurant being quite empty. I will not go here again.

Rate this a solid place to eat. As a part-time park city resident this place is a refreshing alternative with great food. Prime rib was perfectly cooked and presented along with the BQ plate. Nice to get a generous portion at a fair price. That's not all! Service was excellent. Amy did a fantastic job. Way better than those park city part timers waiting for a tip. This person was real and interested in making our experience a great one. Salad rocked! Will be back for sure

Meh. If I were to describe this place in one word, it would be, "average." For a steak place, I have definitely had better steak--at a cheaper price too. After finding out I would be dining here for a work function (with a $150 per person allowance, no less!) I was excited to try this place, which I had heard so much about. On recommendation from the waitress, who raved about the tenderness of the cut, I decided to order the NY Strip, medium-rare. Unfortunately, the steak that was served to me was definitely not "rare"; it might have passed for medium, but certainly not medium-rare. I'm certainly not a "steak snob" and, since I wasn't the one footing the bill, I ate the steak happily. It wasn't gross, just average. Nothing special. Certainly not $26.95 special. Everything about the experience was average. The service was average, the appetizers were average, and the ambiance was average. Absolutely zero reasons for me to go back (unless my work holds another function there, I suppose.) For the money, you'll get a much better steak at Ruby River.

This is one of the original Claim Jumpers. It is no longer affiliated with the chain. It was decorated very nicely. Our waitress, Vicky, was terrific. Gave us lots of places to visit on our vacation. LOVED the food. Prime rib was fantastic. Best I have had in a long time.

Just ate dinner. Everything was great; food, service, etc. Would eat here again. Only gave four stars because price was a bit high.

The prime rib was to die for. The meat had great seasoning (I love an end cut) and it was still medium rare. Almost melted in my mouth. You have to try this.

Not worth the money. Waitress was very nice, but forgot our appetizer. Chicken fried steak was greasy. My kids did not like the chicken nuggets, they were typical low-end grocery store frozen nuggets. Won't go there again.

This place was such a disappointment. From waiting 15 min for my server to show up, the staggering price tag and the worst salad I have ever tasted I'm shocked they stay in business. And the real crime is I live less then a quarter mile from this joint. I asked for my steak to be mid-rare and when I got it was so cold. So I sent it back and it came back well-done. It was dry and tough to chew. It came with mash potatoes that I think they got from the KFC down the road. The salad I received was made from what I assume is the same salad they use at Taco Bell. Now I have read some of the other reviews and I see some love the Claim Jumper. Good for them. I'm not going back.

Stopped in with some relatives that were back in the States for the holidays. I must say that I was expecting a lot more after seeing their prices on their menu. (Which is printed on a beer bottle....different.) I believe most of their steaks were in the $20+ range. I ordered a top sirloin medium-rare and a pathetically thin cut showed up on my plate that was cooked closer to medium well. Usually, I would have said something, but I was more focused on "catching up" with family we hadn't seen in years. I had their ceaser salad as well as it was mediocre at best. For what you pay, you definitely don't get your moneys worth. A franchise steakhouse like Outback or Texas Roadhouse are twice as good for less money. The one bright spot was stopping at Granny's afterwards for one of their famous milk shakes.

For the price, the food was not worth it at all. They served the mashed patatoes from an ice cream scoop, the steaks took forever and the salad that came out was similar to drinking vinegar. The quality of the steak is on par with outback steakhouse but twice the price. Save your money and cook your own steak. Better quality every time.

Mediocre. If I lived here I wouldn't return. Nice server but very slow service. Tasteless steak.

I love this place ...why? Let me count the ways: 1. location is just down the road and on the way in or out of Heber from or to Provo. 2. Parking...lots of it 3. Good ol fashion steak and potatoe kind of place with old barn wood floors with a fantastic old huge! bar 4. The animals heads on the wall..really! They are cool once you get used them...elk, deer etc. 5. food is good, alot of it and hearty. 6. the wait staff are GREAT! very attentive but not pushy. Always smiling and warm 7. I want to say more about the inside of the building...humm...old wooden tables worn smooth by years of customers leaning on them and the coolest lighting fixtures....very country but not cutesties..just warm and pleasant. Hungry? Go for the rib yeye or New York (or any others) steak and big bake potatoe with an appitizer of sauted mushrooms while having a good wine and looking forward to the great desert of pie ore ice cream or a some kind of decant chocalate something to give you the sugar high to drive home on. YUmmmmmmm
